PRIMARY SCHOOL - The year ended with two successful plays, A Wriggly Nativity and Soldiers in a Foreign Land, both now available on DVD for £1. Pupils and staff also said goodbye to headteacher Julie Jones, with thanks for all her help and inspiration during the last two years. Some of the last stars of her week were Will Perry, Max Gwilliam Gardiner, Reuben Ritchie, Holly Williams, Abbey Teague, Ella Baker, Alex Williams, Will Nevard, Malaikha Billand, Jo-Jo Chesworth Rickards, Rosie Rimmington, Alison Watkins and Josh Duggan. In the new term, which started yesterday, Mr Batstone took over as head teacher with Mrs Chilcott, class one’s teacher, as deputy head.

RAINBOW ARTS - The group has reopened after the Christmas break and meets every Wednesday, 10am to 1pm, in the Baptist Chapel Hall. Everyone of different abilities is welcome.

KOFFI POT - This popular meeting place is in the Baptist Chapel Hall every Friday from 10am to noon and is proving so well known that a cycling club makes a regular detour to sample the goodies.

JAM CLUB AND JAM PACKED - For children aged seven to 11 in the Baptist Hall 6.30pm to 8pm every Friday during term time, while older children 11 to 14 meet every second Friday during term time. Both clubs resume tomorrow (Friday).

PLOUGH SUNDAY - There will be a special service at St Mary’s, Kentchurch, on Sunday at 11.15am.

MORNING WORSHIP - This Sunday at St Michael’s, and also an all-age informal service at Rowlestone, at 6pm.

BENEFICE BIBLE STUDY - At the Rectory from 10am on Friday, January 13, followed by prayers for the parish and the world from 11.15am. All are welcome.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE - After a successful Christmas lunch members are back to business on January 13, with discussions on the topics which will go forward to the national meeting in the summer. If this sounds a bit heavy they will also be having some light hearted quizzes and games as well as a cup of tea or coffee. New members will be welcome.
