8:00am Thursday 15th September 2011 in Ewyas Harold
JAM CLUB - Reopens to cater for children aged seven-11 years every Friday during September from 6.30-8pm in the Baptist Chapel Hall. It is followed by jam packed when young people aged between 11 and 14 years can enjoy games and crafts as well as discussion and worship. For further details contact Rev Matt Powell.
FRENCH CONNECTION - We have a very enthusiastic group of twinning friends in Segonzac in the Cognac region of France who have given anyone in the Ewyas Harold, Kingstone, Longtown and Peterchurch area an invitation to visit them. It would be a great opportunity for a small group who would like to learn more about the culture and language of France to enjoy the hospitality of French families. It is also a great way of forming new friendships abroad and a great way to practice your French. A formal twinning group has not been set up in Segonzac, but if this link is kept open there could always be an opportunity to do so at a later date if supporters can be found who would like to run such a group. If anyone is interested in visiting Segonzac or in learning French it may be possible to arrange lessons locally contact maddy@homefarmdulas.co.uk for more details.
BLANCHE PARRY AND QUEEN ELIZABETH 1 - There is a chance to buy the limited edition of the 2012 calendar on September 17, 1.30-4pm, in Bacton Hall. Among the other photographs are those generously granted by the Marquess of Salisbury which include the portrait of Queen Elizabeth 1, Lord Burghley and Hatfield Old Palace. Blanche Parry's tomb and monument also feature, she was lady in waiting to Queen Elizabeth 1 and was born in Bacton.
