WOMEN’S GUILD - The first meeting of the year will be in Abbeydore hall at 2.30pm today (Thursday), when the talk will be about orchids.
WALKING FOR HEALTH - This popular group continues to meet on Fridays at 10am outside the chip shop in the centre of the village and all are welcome to join, no fee required. Short gentle walks lasting approximately 40 minutes add easy exercise into your week and at the end there is always a welcome cup of coffee in Koffi Pot at the Baptist Chapel.
BIBLE STUDY - The next meeting will be in the rectory on Tuesday at 10am with coffee at 11.15am and prayers from 11.45am-1.15pm. All are welcome for all or part of the morning as members continue to look at discipleship in St Mark’s Gospel.
WI - Pontrilas and District WI was unable to meet in January because of the snow so starts the year on February 9, at 7.30pm, in the Memorial Hall. If you want to know some “Cathedral secrets” come along and you will be made most welcome.
OPEN MEETING - Churches Together will be holding an open meeting on February 9, in the Methodist hall, starting at 7.30pm.
ART CLUB - The spring term of the Kilpeck art club is underway, Mondays until April 26, 2-4pm in Kilpeck Hall.

PRIMARY SCHOOL - Recently we have had sports coaches in school teaching gymnastics and multiskills to the children. A mixed group of pupils went from the school to Kingstone High School for the morning where they participated in a sports festival along with other local primary schools. Key stage two pupils have participated in workshops to introduce them to the topic of energy use and energy efficiency which they will be sharing with the rest of the school. The staff have also been learning in a range of training opportunities including developing early literacy, mental reasoning and Forest School leadership.
MEMORIAL HALL - A new gas heater will soon be installed in the lounge and a new cooker in the kitchen. On Friday, February 12, starting at 7.30pm, Flicks in the Sticks will be showing Skin (certificate 12A), a story about a black child born to apartheid-era South African parents who were unaware of their black ancestry. Admission is £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for under 16s. Sue Gillespie’s life drawing class starts on February 13. To book a place phone 01981 240637.
DOWN THE SEVERN - An illustrated talk by Brian Draper, From Bridgnorth to the Sea, will take place in St Michael’s Church on Thursday, February 11, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6.50 from the village shop and Mailes the butchers, to include light refreshments.
CELEBRATING PASTORAL CARE - The local ministry development group has arranged a day on Saturday, February 13, 10am-3pm, to discuss pastoral care and visiting. It is an open meeting but all church members are invited because their presence and participation would be valued. Come just for the morning or stay for a light lunch and into the afternoon.
