PARISH COUNCIL - The January meeting was held in the memorial hall with Councillor B Krige in the chair.
With regards to local security matters the council was concerned to hear that there will no longer be police response officers working from Peterchurch. The clerk will write to the chief inspector and enquire how the Golden Valley area is being policed.
HISTORY GROUP - Ewyas Harold archaeology and history group has secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Archenfield archaeology will be leading the group in an effort to identify the site of the Benedictine Priorty in Ewyas Harold. An exploration of archaeology in the Dulas Valley will also be carried out.
SNOW DAMAGE - In view of the problems caused by the snow and ungritted condition of the roads it was decided that an audit of all the problem areas should be carried out. People are invited to report faults through the Community First website.
NEWSLETTER - Councillor Mrs E Overstall agreed to edit the February newsletter. The next meeting of the council will be held in the Memorial Hall on February 2 at 7.15pm.
MUMS AND TOTS - Toddlers, babies and their mums, dads or carers are warmly invited to St Michael’s Church Hall every Wednesday in term time, 9am-11am. Toys, books, crafts and refreshments are provided all at £1.50 per session.
PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY - Until January 25, there will be a service in St John Kemble Church every day, except Sunday, 11.30am-12.15pm.
TRAVELLERS’ TALES - Once again you can relax in the cosy warmth of Ewyas Harold Methodist chapel and be an armchair traveller to distant places. The first of our second series of Travellers’ Tales takes place on Friday, January 22, entitled Always Another Mountain by Bob Burson. There will be a retiring collection for the speaker’s charity.
WORKERS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION - Steven Desmond’s lectures continue on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Baptist chapel.
