Eardisley BAND - It is regretted that the item in last week’s Hereford Times did not make it clear that the formation of a band was intended only for people in the Eardisley group of parishes.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION - Tonight (Thursday) the monthly meeting will be held at the New Strand, starting at 8pm, when Philip Whittall will be speaking about his experiences while serving in Bosnia.

SENIORS’ LUNCH - The next lunch will be tomorrow (Friday), from 12.30 until 2pm, at 7 Millstream Gardens.

CHURCHES - When the first quarterly draw for 2010 took place, the winners were Mr N Cadd, Mr Owen Whittall, Mrs Ann Terry, Mrs Marge Drew, Miss Sally Wood, Mr Rodney Wood, Mrs Carol Morris, Mrs Debbie Smith, Mrs Diana Davies and Mrs Jackie Whittall.

WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER - This year the service will be held in the Methodist Chapel, starting at 2pm.

CHAPEL SERVICES - Services at 11am will be conducted by Rev P Chapman on March 7 and 14, Mr D Gwatkin on March 21 and Rev Waldegrave on March 28.

CINEMA - There will be an extra evening of films tomorrow (Friday) when two silent movies will be shown with live accompaniment and refreshments.

Possibly Harold Lloyd’s most famous feature film, Safety Last, will be the first, followed by The Plank, starring Tommy Cooper, Roy Castle and Jimmy Tarbuck. As usual, doors open at 7pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm. On March 19, the film will be State of Play (certificate 12A), starring Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Jeff Daniels and Helen Mirren.
