Eardisland

NEW RECTOR - Rev Dr Robert Taylor has been appointed rector of Kingsland, Eardisland, Aymestry and Leinthall Earles. The induction service is at Kingsland on March 17, at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come and meet Dr Taylor and his family.

FLORAL DEMONSTRATION - The theme of Jewels in the Crown will be taken by Beryl Griffiths when she presents a floral demonstration in Eardisland village hall on Wednesday, March 24, at 7.30pm. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets, £7, are available from Esther Simpson on 01544 388641 or Wendy Priday on 388570, to include a glass of wine and nibbles. There will also be a raffle.

BIG BREAKFAST - This will be a fundraising event for the village church on Saturday, March 13, 8am to 1pm. A wide variety of breakfasts and beverages will be on offer. As it is the day before Mothering Sunday it is a great chance for people to give their mum a break MOTHERING SUNDAY - On March 14, there will be a special service at St Mary’s Church at 9.30am when children will be giving flowers to their mothers. All are very welcome.

EARDISLAND COMMUNITY SHOP – Volunteers are needed for the shop which will be opening in the Dovecote in late March. Contact Albert Sheffield on 01544 388026.

CHURCH - Extensive repairs to the east window in the church are almost complete, thanks to the support of the Church Commissioners.

PARISH COUNCIL – It was announced at the recent meeting that the minutes of the council are on view in the church rather than the Dovecote whilst that building is being fitted out to make a village shop.
