BIG BREAKFAST - There will be a fund-raising event for the village church on Saturday from 8am to 1pm. A wide variety of breakfasts and beverages will be on offer.

SOCIAL WHIST - At the first of two whist drives in March, prizewinners were Betty Lane, Sue Holdaway, Mary Gates, Peggy Lloyd and Margaret Kerrigan. The next will be on March 29, with play commencing at 7.45pm.

NEW RECTOR - Rev Dr Robert Taylor has been appointed rector of Kingsland, Eardisland, Aymestry and Leinthall Earles. The induction service is at Kingsland on March 17, at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come and meet Dr Taylor and his family.

Eardisley BAND - It is regretted that the item in last week’s Hereford Times did not make it clear that the formation of a band was intended only for people in the Eardisley group of parishes.

WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER - There will be a non-denominational service in Evenjobb Village Hall to mark Women’s World Day of Prayer tomorrow (Friday) at 2.30pm, followed by refreshments. This year’s service has been prepared by the women of Cameroon.

CHURCH - This year, Women’s World Day of Prayer on March 5, will be held in the Eardisley Methodist Church. Lent and Easter begin with the Procession of the Cross, starting on Sunday at St Mary Magdalene Church. Walkers are invited to assemble there at 2pm and will walk to Winforton. The following Sunday, March 7, the assembly will be at Winforton for the walk to Whitney.

BINGO - The February bingo in Evenjobb will take place tomorrow (Friday), a week later than usual, at 8pm, in the village hall. Proceeds are for Radnor Valley Playgroup.

FLORAL ART - The theme of “Jewels in the Crown” will be taken by Beryl Griffiths when she presents a floral demonstration in Eardisland Village Hall on March 24, at 7.30pm. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets at £7 are available from Esther Simpson on 01544 388641 or Wendy Priday on 388570. Tickets include a glass of wine and nibbles. There will also be a raffle.

BAND - There have been some enquiries about the setting up of a band in the Eardisley group. Alison Hird, on 01544 231780, would be pleased to hear from anyone else who is interested in this project.

PARISH COUNCIL - The next meeting of the council will take place in the village hall on Thursday, February 25, at 7.30pm. Members of the public are invited to attend.
