FLICKS IN THE STICKS - Dorstone’s next film will be Another Year (certificate 12A) tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm. Directed by Mike Leigh and starring Jim Broadbent and Imelda Staunton, the film tells the story of one year in the lives of a happily married couple and those around them. Tickets are £4. There will be a bar.
MEETING - The annual parish meeting is in the hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. A warm welcome is extended to all parishioners, especially those who have moved in during the last 12 months. A presentation has been invited on the broadband initiative.
PARISH COUNCIL - At the annual meeting Colin Thomas was elected chairman and Simon Gaze vice-chairman.
PLANT DAY PLUS - On Saturday, from 11am to 3pm. There will be the a great selection of plants at the field plus mending, sharpening and maintenance of garden tools. In the hall there will be bacon and pork rolls, tea, coffee, cider, cakes and a local produce market.
At the church there will be stalls, tea, soup, cakes and an exhibition of local photography.
In Dorstone’s Front Room there will be crafts, refreshments and local suppliers. If you have plants to bring, please bring them on the day or on Friday evening from 6pm to 8pm.
Members of Dorstone’s new parish council will be in the village hall from noon to meet villagers.
