RADNOR AND WEST-The Annual meeting of the Radnor and West Herefordshire Hunt took place on New Years Day outside the Crown Inn. Chairman, Henry Marfell was flanked by a strong turn-out despite the ground being too hard to ride out. Joint Master Robert Jones was jubilant to see some two hundred supporters crowd in to the village centre.

HISTORY CAPSULE-It is the tradition in Dilwyn that carols are sung on the village green during the week before Christmas, lead by St Mary’s church choir and accompanied by the Dilwyn Brass players. Children from the village school sang enthusiastically knowing that a job well done was to be rewarded with a visit from Santa Clause. The occasion is used to open just once a year, the Dilwyn History Capsule buried on the village green. Documents deposited this year included a Peter Mander’s caricature of Dilwyn Mothers’ Union members that had been published in the Hereford Times; photographs taken at village school activities and a copy of the history of the Dilwyn branch of the Royal British Legion published in commemoration of their 80th anniversary.
