LEISURE CLUB - On Monday members will take their last trip of the year to Coed-y-Dinas garden, home and country centre, part of Charlie’s Stores, in Welshpool, Powys. Details about the centre can be found at coedydinas.co.uk. The coach will leave the parish hall at 9.30am and return from Welshpool at 4pm. The cost is £12 per person and visitors are welcome. NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN - The next meeting of the steering group has been cancelled as members await feedback from Herefordshire Council on the current draft. The next meeting will now be on September 16, and all are welcome to attend. Anyone who would like to see the Bodenham neighbourhood planning poster or learn more about the plan and to see a copy of the latest draft is invited to visit the Bodenham parish website and click on “neighbourhood plan” in the left hand column under “parish information”.

GARDENING CLUB – The gardening club meets in the parish hall on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm. On Tuesday the talk will be on ‘defensive gardening at a time of climate change’, and will be given by David Cropp.

SUMMER FETE - On Saturday, there will be a summer fete in aid of St Michael and All Angels’ Church. There will be stalls and attractions for all the family, plus a special guest appearance by the town crier of Malvern to give us a good shout. The event opens at 2.30pm at the church. GARDENING CLUB - The next Bodenham Gardening Club meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday in Bodenham Parish Hall. It will feature a gardeners’ question time with Reg Moule and Mike George from BBC Hereford and Worcester. Visitors and nonmembers are welcome to attend but there will be a charge of £4.

CARERS’ GROUP - The group meets on the third Monday of the month at 2pm in the Siward James community room. Anyone who provides care or support to someone else – family, friend or neighbour – is welcome. Anyone needing alternative care for the person they care for, to enable them to come to the meetings, is asked to get in touch as this may be possible to arrange but does require at least two weeks’ notice.

LITTER PICK - In April an organised litter pick involving 20 Bodenham residents collected an impressive selection of rubbish from around the parish in just two hours. The full tally included one full dustbin, three gas canisters, nine tyres, one pouffe, one bedside table, one printer, one large flowerpot, a few small slabs, four square metres of vinyl flooring, the bottom half of a blue water butt, 25 black bags of collected rubbish, two fly-tipped bags of rubbish and part of a car bumper. Special thanks go to Babs Mitcheson and to Jeff and Lyn Pollard who provided the soup and the rolls for the volunteers and to Amey Herefordshire for supplying the litter picking equipment and taking away all the rubbish so promptly afterwards.

On August 13 the club has its annual trip to the seaside – Llandudno this time – with the coach leaving the parish hall at 9.30am and departing Llandudno at 4pm.
