Police issue warning that thieves are moving into rural areas

RURAL THEFTS - Police are warning that thieves are moving into rural areas because they find easier pickings than in the cities and towns. Insurance company NFU Mutual statistics show that 507,906 crimes took place in the countryside between January 1, and June 30, this year and that a theft took place every 43 seconds. Police are asking farmers and home owners to increase their security as thieves target heating oil, metal gates and livestock.
