VILLAGE HALL - This year’s AGM is in the hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, January 19.

Everyone is welcome to attend this important meeting and express views on the running of this amenity. New members would be welcome to serve on the committee. On January 21, there will be a Chinese auction in the hall, 7pm until 10pm. Donations of items for sale would be greatly appreciated. Entry is free. The bar will be open. The next Sunday lunch will be on January 29, for which bookings by January 25 are essential.

CHURCH - The Christmas market in St Mary’s Church proved to be a very happy social occasion, raising more than £900 for church funds. Among the items on sale were wreaths which had been constructed at a workshop run by Edna Hughes. Both of these events were well attended, so perhaps they will be repeated next winter. On January 22, the family service will be a christingle.

Christingles will be made and sold in aid of the Children’s Society.
