CHURCH - A holly wreath workshop takes place in St Mary’s Church at 10am on Wednesday. Gloves and secateurs are essential, and items useful to put in the wreaths.
There will be a group candlelit service at 6.30pm on Sunday. After the service children will be selling sweets made earlier in the day, with proceeds to Acorns Children’s Hospice. On December 2, at a Christmas market in church from 6pm to 9pm. more than 15 stalls will sell holly wreaths, jewellery, books, cards, plants, preserves, candles, crafts, soaps and cider. Refreshments including mulled cider will be served. The choir will be practising Christmas music from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Entrance is free.
WHIST CLUB - After presenting prizes to winners Jim Price, Margaret Price-Jinks, Michael Handley, Allan Exton, Mary Gates, Kath Jenkins, Margaret Kerrigan and Margaret Price, MC Rick Harris announced that the next events will be on November 29, December 13 and December 20, all 7.45pm.
FLICKS IN THE STICKS - Today (Thursday) in Almeley Village Hall doors open at 7.15pm for Inspector Drake – The Movie, filmed in and around Shropshire. Coffee and a mince pie will be available in the interval. Bar, cabaret seating and a raffle. Tickets £4.50.
