A CRUCIAL meeting that could shape the future of education in Bromyard is about to take place.

This Tuesday (July 15) sees another major meeting take place at Queen Elizabeth Humanities College.

Once again, the future of the Bromyard cluster is under scrutiny - and the public’s feedback is equally vital.

Figures from the LEA (local education authority) and the seven schools will unveil their future plans at the 7.30pm meeting.

The plans, labelled Future Scenarios, range from doing nothing to building a combined primary and secondary school in the town.

The hope is to avert any future threat of closure, and a repeat of the draft schools review debacle.

The meeting comes six months after 1,126 people - roughly a quarter of Bromyard - rallied in defence of QEHC and the cluster.

While Herefordshire Council has stated no schools will be closed before 2011, they need a cluster strategy by September.

Councillor, Jonathan Lester, of organisers Bromyard & Winslow Town Council, is urging residents to attend, and hopes for a similar turnout to January’s meeting.

“The governors have come up with some scenarios but not a lot of people in our community know what the scenarios are,” he said.

“We must keep the momentum going, because the issues have not gone away.”
