I sent a letter to the Queen - and she wrote back

THOUSANDS of enjoyed the Diamond Jubilee celebrations this summer, but not many wrote to the Queen to let her know.

But that’s exactly what eight-year- old Gemma Morrison from Hereford did and, to her surprise, she received a reply.

The Holmer Primary School wrote to the Queen in June telling her that she looked very pretty during the London celebrations and was looking forward to seeing her when she visited Hereford in July.

And in the past few days Gemma, now nine, received a letter from Buckingham Palace in which the Queen expressed her “grateful thanks” for the letter.

I wrote to the queen when I was a youngster, in 1970 or thereabouts, when I was 9! I got a letter back as well, from one of her ladies in waiting I think it was. Might even have the letter still!
