Amazingly brave Bethan, 20, loses battle against cancer
7:50pm Thursday 11th October 2012 in Local News By Lydia Johnson
AN ‘amazingly brave’ Hereford woman has died aged 20 following a 10-month battle with a rare cancer.
Bethan Davies, from Belmont, was diagnosed with pheochromocytoma in February.
The cancer of the adrenal gland tissue affects only one person in 100,000 in the UK.
Paying tribute to Bethan, who died at St Michael’s Hospice on September 28, her mother Helen described her as “amazingly brave” and “a really special individual”.
“She had so many friends and didn’t tell any of them exactly what she was going through as she didn’t want them to worry," said Helen.
“She never gave up hope.
"She was making plans for her 21st birthday in November this year and kept fighting to the end.
“She loved dancing – she was a member of the 2Faced Dance Company – and her puppy Betsy, who was a big comfort to her.”
Bethan - who worked at Hereford County Hospital’s pharmacy as an assistant technical officer - also leaves her father, Lynn, and 24-year-old sister Gemma.
Her funeral will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Hereford on Wednesday (October 17) at 2.45pm.
No flowers but donations, if desired, may be given in lieu.
