THE achievements of John Masefield High School pupils were highlighted at its presentation evening.

It marked the first public appearance for Frances Surridge, the school’s new chairman of governors.

She replaced Spencer Lane, who resigned from the chairmanship in the summer after seven years.

Ms Surridge, an experienced teacher who has also worked with schools and parents on exclusion issues and most recently for a Malvern-based charity which supports children with disabilities, said: “I really enjoyed the opportunity to congratulate the young people who received prizes, as well as thank all the school staff and parents who have supported them to achieve.”
