Children's laureate Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo, has paid a visit to Leominster library.

The best selling author of more than 150 books is embarking on a six-week tour of libraries and stopped in Herefordshire last week.

Schoolchildren from Kimbolton and Pembridge Primary Schools were among the lucky ones who got the chance to meet the writer behind The Gruffalo, What the Ladybird Heard and Zog.

“Libraries are very close to my heart, and so is performance,” said Julia.

“This tour is my way of bringing the two together, by visiting fantastic libraries all over the country, enjoying children acting and singing and sharing my own stories with them.

“I want it to be a hugh celebration of libraries and of the benefits they offer to communities and especially to children.”
