Dancers ready for the Hereford Tapathon

The Starlight Company is gearing up to host the Hereford Tapathon 2012 – a Guinness world record breaking tap dancing attempt raising money for Children in Need.

Dancers of all ages across the country are set to perform same routine on the same day at the same time as Starlight.

“Sadly last year the record wasn't quite broken so this year we're doing everything we can to get more people involved in Hereford so it is definitely louder and bigger than 2011,” said Starlight’s Kim Owen. “We hope our efforts will make it a record breaker as well as raising lots of money.”

This year’s Hereford event will be at the Point4, Venns Lane, on November 18 between 10am and1pm.

There’s space for more than 300 participants and an audience.

To keep dancers on their toes, Starlight will be holding a rehearsal at thePoint4 between 3pm and 6pm on November 11 where a toe-tapping routine to the Olly Murs song Dance With me Tonight will be fine tuned.

Kim says the moves will be kept simple and given plenty of rehearsal time.

Tappers of whatever ability have only to bring their tap shoes.

Taking part in the event itself costs £10 towards Children in Need with a Tshirt in return. Dancers need to be registered by Wednesday. There is a registration morning at thePoint4 on Saturday between 11am and 1pm.

Registration forms can also be downloaded from starlightcompany.co.uk/events, collected from any Starlight dance class or from thePoint4, or email move@starlightcompany.co.uk for more details.
