Holme Lacy Primary School at risk as pupil numbers drop
10:00am Friday 20th July 2012 in Local News
DWINDLING pupil numbers at Holme Lacy Primary School have prompted a review into its future.
Fewer than 10 children are likely to be on the books at Holme Lacy primary come September as the number in its catchment area drops.
Just over five years ago the pupil number stood at 56.
Headteacher Tracey Kneale and her governing body have requested a review into the situation, with parents and staff set for talks on drawing up a timetable this week.
A statement from Herefordshire Council said: “Holme Lacy Primary School performs well, but there are also other well performing schools in the area with vacancies, and as parents have exercised their rights to choose their preferred school, the numbers at Holme Lacy have continued to decline.
“The main priority of all concerned is to bring certainty to the children, parents and staff as quickly as possible.”
