FORMER Hereford Mayor Julie Woodward died at St Michael's Hospice last night following a battle with cancer.
Councillor Woodward was elected as the city's 630th mayor during 2011-2012 before handing over to the present Mayor Councillor Brian Wilcox in May.
During that time, she attended 460 engagements and raised £12,000 for her chosen charities, Help for Heroes and The Charles Renton Unit.
Former mayor's secretary Anne Double, said that she was “a
ray of sunshine, who was always so kind and friendly”.
Coun Woodward was one of the founding members of the It's Our County party, which was set up in opposition to the redevelopment of the city's Livestock Market site, which includes a large retail sector, and was ward councillor for St Nicholas.
The It's Our County group have confirmed Coun Woodward's death on it's Facebook page, adding that "her energy and enthusiasm will be greatly missed."
Coun Woodward leaves a husband Andrew and daughter Sophie.
Her funeral is next Monday (July 23) at 1pm at Holy Trinity Church, Whitecross Road, Hereford, followed by a private cremation and a wake at the Railway Club.

Julie you will be sadly missed along life's way,
quietly remembered every day...
No longer in our life to share,
but in our hearts, you're always there.
