Hereford MP Jesse Norman criticised by national newspaper
3:01pm Thursday 5th July 2012 in Local News
Hereford's MP did not make much of an impression when he questioned Barclays former boss Bob Diamond.
The Guardian gave Jesse Norman four out of 10 for his performance, the joint lowest mark given to the backbench MPs who grilled Mr Diamond over his former bank's involvement in the rate fixing scandal.
"Diamond chummily made much of the fact that Norman was a former Barclays insider," The Guardian wrote.
"And Norman went off on a long and winding digression about Bob's long record in financial markets."
The national newspaper reserved more praise for John Mann, giving him eight out of 10 for his part in yesterday's three-hour debate.
The Guardian reported that Mr Mann produced the following "killer quote".
He told Diamond: "You're either complicit in what's going on, grossly negligent or grossly incompetent: the buck stops with you."
