Travellers have set up camp on King George V playing fields, Hereford Travellers have set up camp on King George V playing fields, Hereford

A GROUP of travellers has moved onto the King George V playing fields in Hereford.

Councillor Bob Preece, from St Martins and Hinton ward, said that eight caravans with Irish number plates drove on to the meadow via the cycle path at 6.30pm last night and set up camp near the children’s play area.

There are travellers and travellers. Romany gypsies normally clear up after themselves after camping on a verge and move on, but others like the Irish tinkers who are still arriving in Liverpool regularly to fill our Licensed Sites will abuse everywhere they stop. And the local people too. The Police can do nothing as they quickly scream 'prejudice and we are an ethnic groups and you are harrassing us'. Needs some firm action from above. i pay my taxes, so why should groupd like this sponge off the rest of us. The New Age travellers are a mixture but mostly friendly and approachable.

Why single out travelers they ain't hurting anyone, You say there thieves etc what about the smack heads and thieves in Hereford always robbing stores etc that dont get put on the Hereford times website, its predudice towards gypsy's. Take a closer look to home we gotta put up with there crap everyday in our town travellers just move on and dont cause any problems, dont judge a book.
