Plea for help as families struggle to afford food
The county's "community larders" are close to empty as families struggle to find affordable food, according to the Diocese of Hereford.
"We have the council offices at Plough Lane and the Benefits Agency office in the city collecting tins, but are keen to get other employers on board and get them to set up a collection point on their premises," said Jackie Boys, social responsibility officer for the Diocese of Hereford and a chief co-ordinator of the scheme.
Donated tinned and dried goods are used to make food parcels, while donations on money cover the cost of fresh food.
