Grandfather jailed for running vice ring

A former president of a Royal British Legion club has been jailed for six years for running a prostitution ring from his Hereford flat.

Alan Geoffrey Bullock, described in court as a man who previously “held his head up high in the community”, persuaded three vulnerable women to have sex for money.

The 70-year-old grandfather, of Sherborne Close, Newton Farm, was found guilty by a jury on six counts of controlling and inciting prostitution for gain, following a week-long trial in March.

At Worcester Crown Court last Friday, Recorder Denis Desmond said Bullock did not pose a threat to members of the public or children, but was guilty of corrupting young women.

He had allowed the women to have sex in his bedroom while he waited in the lounge, and would give them lifts to clients in places such as Presteigne, Abergavenny and Bobblestock in Hereford.

In return he would ask for petrol money and sex with two of the women.

Sentencing him, Mr Desmond said: “You did not control all of their activities and you did not force them, but you did corrupt them.”
