A KILOMETRE of hoardings is due to go up around Hereford’s old cattle market next month, but talks ahead of any actual construction on site remain on-going.
A confident Herefordshire Council said this week that the hoardings would secure the site ahead of the demolition that was due to be already well underway.
In a statement, the council said “intensive archaeological analysis work, negotiation with key occupiers and contractor discussions” had been continuing since the start of the year.
"To allow us to begin work in earnest in the coming weeks, we are working alongside the developer, Stanhope, to ensure the site is thoroughly prepared and all the necessary legal and financial discussions are concluded," said Jonathan Bretherton, chief executive of Hereford Futures.
Delays in the project’s starting date and the status of relevant contacts were questioned at the most recent meeting of Herefordshire Council.
