Two arrested after shooting

A MAN has been arrested for attempted murder after a shooting incident at Leigh Sinton which put a man in hospital.

The A4103 Hereford-Worcester road remains closed while Police investigate, causing traffic congestion The shooting is being linked to a burglary in Whitbourne, near Bromyard, that took place last night.

Police were called to Leigh Sinton just after 8.05pm yesterday after the Ambulance service reported a man with a shotgun wound.

Police officers, including armed officers, attended the area around Hereford Road and residents were asked to remain in their homes.

One man was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A second man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of a burglary at Whitbourne, Worcestershire, earlier in the evening.

A third man was arrested in Whitbourne a short time later, on suspicion of attempted murder.

Detective Superintendent Ivan Powell, of West Mercia Police, said: "Police continue to remain in Leigh Sinton to conduct house to house enquiries and forensic investigations.

"I would like to make it clear that residents are not at any risk and would like to thank them, and the wider community, for their support and ongoing patience, acknowledging the disruption the area is experiencing as investigations continue."

At this time, police believe this incident is linked to an earlier burglary in Whitbourne.

The A4103 Worcester to Hereford road has been closed between Leigh Sinton and Storridge while investigations are carried out.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said a call to an incident was received just after 8pm.

A rapid response vehicle and a BASICS doctor were sent to the scene.

She confirmed that a man had been conveyed to hospital.

This morning, it was reported that Stocking Lane in Whitbourne was cordoned off by police.
