Appeal for witnesses after woman is killed by car

A woman has died after being hit by a car in Herefordshire last night.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of an accident involving a car and a pedestrian at Kerne Bridge on the B4229, near Flanesford Priory in Goodrich, Ross on Wye, at around 9.30pm.

An ambulance attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The ambulance crew arrived to find an injured woman lying on the grass verge being cared for by passers by.

“The woman sustained significant multiple injuries after reportedly being in collision with a car.

"The ambulance crew commenced emergency treatment on scene before quickly transferring her by land ambulance on blue lights to Hereford County Hospital whilst treatment continued en route.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the ambulance crew and hospital medics, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead later at hospital.”

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
