LEDBURY'S mayor Chris Holbourn died in hospital last night.

The well-loved chairman of the town council had been fighting a brave battle against cancer which had forced him to retire from many civic duties over the past few weeks.

Town councillor Keith Francis led tributes to a man who was "loved, admired and respected by so many".

Coun Francis continued: "We in the town are absolutely devastated. He was an excellent mayor - ready and available for everybody and always about the town.

"There will be a lot of people who will be very saddened by the news."
