A CLASSIC car driven by a broadcasting legend and Top Gear guest is to go under the hammer.
A Bentley owned by Sir Terry Wogan and a Rover that “killed” Penelope Keith are being sold by Brightwells Leominster.
More than 100 cars will go under the hammer at its classic car auction on Saturday, December 12.
Highlights include a 1939 Rover 14 Saloon, which Penelope Keith drove in her final act on the ITV serial Coming Home.
The car has a guide price of £3,000, while the 1984 Bentley owned by Wogan could fetch £6,000.
Brightwells’ classic car expert, James Dennison, believes the Radio 2 star was a very careful owner.
“He has the distinction of being the second slowest person in Top Gear’s ‘star in a reasonably priced car’ segment,”
he said.
“His time was even beaten by a blind man, so it’s safe to assume the Bentley has never been thrashed.”
The latest lot includes a 1903 Oldsmobile and a 1994 Ferrari Mondial T Cabriolet with only 1,900 miles on the clock.
A 1955 Jaguar XK140 Roadster, reputedly owned by Lord Colin Cowdrey, is also for sale.
