THE eastbound carriageway of the M50 has been re-opened 24 hours after it was closed because of a fuel spillage.

Emergency crews worked all day and through the night to clear an estimated 250 litres of liquid from the road after a lorry carrying coal hit the central reservation of the M50 at around 10.40am yesterday.

The road was closed eastbound between Junction 4 for Ross and Junction 2 for Ledbury, while one lane of the westbound carriageway was closed for a while to aid recovery work.

No-one is thought to have been injured and diversions involving the A449 and A417 were put in place.
