A TOTAL of £3,000 was raised for charity by a Herefordshire woman at a charity ball.

Jayne Jones, from Bromyard, organised the event at the town’s gala to raise money for the Charles Renton Unit.

Mrs Jones was diagnosed with breast cancer in January and she wanted to say thank you to the unit for the treatment she has received.

The ball, which featured an auction, a raffle, a live band and helicopter rides, attracted about 200 people.

“It was a really great evening,” said Mrs Jones.

“The Charles Renton Unit was fantastic to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, so I wanted to give something back.”

A total of £3,000 was also raised by Mrs Jones’ friend Shenaugh Davies, which will go towards the HOPE Family Centre in Bromyard.
