HEAVY overnight rain has caused the closure of a Herefordshire road.

The A465 Hereford to Bromyard road is shut at Stoke Lacy, near to Woodend Lane, where water is up to two feet deep in places.

But there is good news as in the last half an hour, the Newtown crossroads - on the A4103 Hereford to Worcester road - has reopened after water levels receded.

Further rain is expected to fall on the county throughout today, but the situation is not expected to be as bad as last summer's floods.
