CRICKETER Chris Price is in the form of his life – and it seems to be down to a very special delivery.
The Lads Club captain, aged 30, started the season in atrocious form, struggling to break into double figures.
But on May 25 his form – and his life – changed with the birth of his daughter Phoebe Nancy.
Since that joyous occasion – he and wife Eve’s first child – the Lads Club stalwart has smashed his way to his first century, before hitting a massive 145 against Bartestree and Lugwardine Seconds in his next innings.
“I can’t believe the scores I’ve got since Phoebe’s birth. I think I’ve just been more relaxed recently because I have other things on my mind,” said Chris, of Perrystone Lane, Tupsley.
And Chris’s second century was made all the sweeter because Phoebe and mum were at the ground to watch.
“To be honest I just laughed when I scored my second century because I couldn’t believe it, although I’ve always thought I should score more runs than I do.
“My teammates can’t quite believe it and a lot of thanks should go to Mark Cathcart who batted with me.”
Chris, a maths teacher at Ledbury’s John Masefield High School, has been averaging 305 since Phoebe was born, pushing his season’s average up to 104.
He hopes his fine form will continue for the remainder of the season so he can help push the Marches League Division Three side safely into mid-table.
