A BROMYARD town councillor and Labour candidate in the recent general election has slammed poor internet coverage in Herefordshire.

Speaking to party members in Bromyard, Roger Page said he found it 'appalling' that North Herefordshire is listed in the top 10 parliamentary constituencies for poor broadband coverage.

The list was included in a report called 'Broadbad 2.0', released by the British Infrastructure Group of MPs (BIG).

The report, co-signed by 57 MPs from across political parties, presents a series of recommendations to the government, industry regulator Ofcom and broadband providers in a bid to improve customer services in the sector.

Cllr Page said: "How can we expect to encourage rural business, or people working from home with such a patchy coverage, we are the poor relation and it damaging to our local economy."

He added that he would be seeking support from local MP Bill Wiggin to raise this issue with ministers.
