A NEW vicar has been appointed at a prominent city centre church.
Andy Morgan has been inducted at St Peter's Church in St Peter's Square- the parish also includes St James' in Green Street.
This is his first vicar post after his curacy and he has chosen to move here from Lichfield Diocese along with his wife, Claire, and young son.
Bishop of Hereford, Richard Frith, said: “I feel really excited about the new chapter in the life of St Peter’s and St James'.
"I think Andy is going to be a terrific vicar. And there is a great sense of anticipation. Andy is young, he has lots of ideas but he’s also had a lot of experience and he’s really determined that the church will reach out with the love of Jesus Christ right across the city.”
Revd Andy said he thought Hereford was a beautiful city.
He said: “We want to grow the church, get more people into the church, into God’s kingdom. I think at my interview one of the parish reps said they want to grow spiritually and numerically and that is absolutely where my wife and I are both coming from in our hearts.
“What we want to do now is find out more about what is going on and just see what God might be saying might be the next steps to move on from that. How can we take what’s already happening and really make sure that Jesus stays at the centre of everything that we do.”
