POLICE have launched an appeal for information following the serious collision near Leominster on Sunday.

The crash, which involved three vehicles and happened at around 6.25pm, resulted in two people being airlifted to hospital. 

Officers said a silver Vauxhall Zafira was travelling southbound on the A49, between the Kimbolton junction of the A4112 and the A44 junction in Leominster, near to the OK Diner.

It was here that the Zafira has been involved in a collision with a grey Landrover Freelander, and another Landrover Freelander, both of which were travelling northbound.

A man and woman travelling in the Zafira were airlifted to hospital, the woman to the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham with life threatening injuries. She remains in hospital in a serious yet stable condition.

The man has now been discharged, and two children also travelling in the Zafira, were treated for minor injuries at Hereford County Hospital.

Police are following a number of enquiries to help with their investigation of the collision.
