A MEETING centre for dementia has asked for help to fund its future.
Leominster Meeting Centre was set up as a joint project with the Alzheimer’s Society, Herefordshire Council and the University of Worcester to evaluate the benefits of a meeting centre for those affected by dementia.
But in August the funding runs out and the Friends of the Leominster Meeting Centre asked Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group if it would provide future funding.
The centre provides information and addresses social isolation, and proposes to continue through extra volunteering, carers and a minimal number of paid staff.
There is a similar centre in Ross-on-Wye based at Christ Church in Edde Cross Street.
Hazel Braund, director of operations at the CCG, said: "This is part of an international study and an international piece of work. It is a very high profile project and a very important piece of work."
She said it should be referred to the Joint Commissioning Board to consider how the CCG can support it in the longer term.
