THE Neighbourhood Development Plan in Ross-on-Wye has hit a stumbling block due to school policy.

A neighbourhood plan is being put together for Ross which will earmark areas suitable for homes, businesses and future development.

Melvin Reynolds, chair of the plan's steering group, told Ross Town Council that they have had no choice but to stop working on delivering the plan due to the lack of information from Herefordshire Council about a possible school site at Broadmeadow.

They cannot proceed to the consultation stage until this has been confirmed as they need to know school policy.

Town councillor Jenny Hyde said the hold-up was a lot to do with the election.

A Herefordshire Council spokesman said: "Ross-on-Wye Town Council is currently producing its plan and has been working closely with Herefordshire Council to ensure its aspirations and those of the council’s schools capital investment strategy are fully reflected within the document.

"The schools capital investment strategy aims to establish long term plans between the council, schools and local communities to improve the county’s school estate and ensure high quality places, that meet predicted pupil demand, are provided."
