A CIDER from New York was named the overall champion at a competition organised by the Hereford Cider Museum.

Angry Orchard from New York was named the winner of The International Cider & Perry Competition, and was also awarded the top prize for their entry in the medium cider category.

Entries were received from 44 cidermakers from England, Wales, Finland, Germany and the USA.

The judges complimented the quality of the ciders entered, and successful local producers included Once Upon A Tree in Ledbury, Oliver’s Cider & Perry in Ocle Pychard, Newton Court Cider near Leominster, Stuart Cooper in Upper Dormington Mayfayre Cider & Perry in Upper Dormington, Gwatkin Cider in Abbey Dore, Butford Organics in Bodenham, Henney’s Cider Co in Bishops Frome, Pips Cider in Dorstone and Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry in Peterstow.

The judges were Susanna Forbes, Gabe Cook, Dave and Martin Berkeley.
