A LEARNER driver who has been disqualified from driving for a year believes the large number of cherry liqueur chocolates she ate at a Christmas party led to a high alcohol reading.
Tigerlilly Webster, 30, of Whitebrook, near Monmouth, admitted drink driving when she appeared before Hereford Magistrates.
Adrian Jones, prosecuting, said police officers on patrol on Ledbury Road in Ross-on-Wye saw a badly parked vehicle on December 18.
Inquiries were made at the scene and the driver was Webster. She was cautioned and asked to do a roadside breath test before being taken to the police station where she gave a sample of 47mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
Emily Gourley, defending, said Webster was shocked at the reading but accepted she had been eating a lot of cherry liqueur chocolates on the evening.
Magistrates fined Webster £110, ordered her to pay £135 costs as well as a £30 victim surcharge. She was also banned from driving for 12 months.
