PART of Widemarsh Street in Hereford will be closed again from Monday.

The street will be closed to traffic from the junction with Blueschool Street through to the junction with East/West Street until mid-March.

The closure will be in place to complete phase one of the High Town refurbishment project and will prohibit all vehicles.

Herefordshire Council said special provision will be made for loading and unloading.

It was closed to through traffic between June and November last year as the streetscape was repaved between the junction with Bewell Street to High Street.

The latest closure is to continue the repaving from High Street to the junctions of East/West Street.

Phase 2 will see High Town being repaved, which will be carried out this year but the date is yet to be confirmed.

Repaving in High Town was carried out nine years ago, but planners say that the latest work will be to a higher quality and standard and will make Hereford a more attractive place.

At the other end of Widemarsh Street there is a one way system in place between the junction with Newtown Road and the junction with Coningsby Street, with traffic flowing towards the city centre- this is to allow construction of the new City Link Road.
