TWO newly-appointed UK Ambassadors from Hereford and two former Cathedral School pupils are among the 930 new entries in the 2017 edition of Who’s Who.

Included in Who’s Who, the latest edition was published this week, are potted biographies of 33,000 of some of the most famous and influential people in the world.

Inclusion is by invite only – something that was offered to five Herefordshire figures.

Among the new entries was Christopher James – the 70-year-old Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire

and Longbow chairman.

Melanie Hopkins, the 43-year-old Hereford-born High Commissioner to Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga and Tuvalu and UK Ambassador to the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia and Head of the South Pacific Network, is also in the book.

While Lucy Joyce, a former Hereford Cathedral School student, is another ambassador who is recognised for her efforts in the Republic of Moldova.

The second alumni from Hereford Cathedral is Robert Hollingworth. The 50-year-old is the founder and director of the early music group, I Fagiolini, and Reader In Music at the University of York.

And the final entrant with city links is Alexander Hickey QC. The 44-year-old Hereford-born London-based barrister was this year made a Queen’s Counsel.

They are joined by, among others, former world motor racing champion Lewis Hamilton, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and the 2016 Tour de France winner, Chris Froome, who are also making their first appearance in Who’s Who.

The 2017 edition of Who’s Who is published by A & C Black.
