MORE than 40 sparkling Christmas trees will be on display in Brilley this weekend.

The Christmas Tree Festival takes place at St Mary's Church, Brilley, on Saturday and Sunday.

The trees range from four inches to 7ft tall and come in all different guises.

Some will be embroidered or patchwork, others will be traditional and some will have more innovative designs, perhaps reflecting the organisation/families they represent or Christmas themes.

Some of the trees are decorated by individuals and families in the community while others are from groups such as Brilley Book Club, Patches Sewing Group, 1st Machynlleth Brownies and local businesses.

Alongside the festival there will be carols and music in the church and a Christmas Craft Market is being held in the community hall with festive refreshments.

The crafts range from pottery, treen, jewellery, lino, honey, Christmas wreaths and many others.

The money being raised is for the much needed maintenance of the two churches that lie on each side of the parish's border.
