A HEREFORD man was fined after breaching an order to leave the city centre during a night out to wet his baby's head.

Scott Bruton, 35, of Brunel Court, Hereford, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place at Hereford Magistrates Court last week.

Adrian Jones, prosecuting, told the court that at 3am on April 10, officers attended Gaol Street to reports of disorder and Bruton was one of two people at the scene.

Police issued him with a section 35 direction to leave the area and not return until the morning.

He repeatedly told police he wanted to go 'one-on-one' with them, Mr Jones said, and officers could tell he was intoxicated.

He tossed the notice on the floor and said he did not need it before a female present told him to take the order and go home.

He then took the order and left the area but police were later informed he was in a queue for the Lunchbox on Commercial Road and he was arrested for breaching the notice.

Defending himself, Bruton said he was walking back to Commercial Road to get a taxi as he was staying at his girlfriend's address.

He said he thought he would grab a sandwich and then get a taxi from the rank over the road but ended up getting arrested.

He added he had changed his life and had started working with disabled and blind people in the community.

Magistrates issued Bruton with a £110 fine, a £30 victim surcharge and ordered him to pay costs of £135.
