AN experienced photographer is thinking small in a bid to highlight Hereford's best selling points.

Nick Meers has taken an innovative range of shots featuring tiny models he calls 'Lil Folx' to bring to life parts of the city centre he thinks are often overlooked.

Mr Meers, who lives near Bromyard, has produced photographs for more than 30 books and taught both in the UK and United States, says the project has taken the best part of a year.

"We live in a city which I think most people probably have no idea what's in it," he said.

"I just wanted to make sure it was about a sense of place by putting these folks in special places.

"They are highlighting places people walk past every day.

"It appeals to all ages. It's a visual gag."

Mr Meers has even created a Twitter hashtag for the Lil Folx called #HerefordHeroes.

For the images he places the tiny models in various city centre locations such as High Town, Church Street, and Broad Street.

His work has already been used by Hereford BID (Business Improvement District) to spruce up a vacant shop in St Peter's Square.

"I'm not the first person to do it, but I just want it to apply to Hereford which is a city that I love," said Mr Meers.

"It's a great city visually to do it in.

"I think we're all blind to our surroundings on a daily basis.

"I've done more than 30 travel books in my time, working with large buildings and panoramics, but things that are small scale are a lot more difficult."

Mr Meers says the work is available to be licensed by any company wishing to use them.
