SKY watchers around the county and beyond enjoyed a rare celestial event in the early hours of this morning – a ‘blood moon’.
The result of a rare combination of an eclipse with the closest full moon of the year, the astronomical event saw the moon appear to turn blood-red in the night sky.
It is the first alignment since 1982 and will not happen again until 2033. There have been only five supermoon eclipses since 1900.
