DOZENS of people have helped clean up an area of Hereford which residents had complained was plagued by litter, broken glass and dirty needles.

The group of 50 or so volunteers filled black bags along the Yazor Brook in Moor Farm.

The litter pick comes a week after some residents said the area, which is popular with dog walkers, is being used by people as a space to drink alcohol, with dangerous objects being left behind.

Gill Fletcher, 48, was left to pay a veterinary bill of £160 after her dog, Buddy, cut his paw twice on glass during a single month, claimed that mowers cutting the field were shredding cans and glass left among the grass.

“Dogs have had their paws cut,” she added. “And children play in the brook as well and it really is a smashing place we are so lucky to have it it’s right on the doorstep. It’s just a shame some are spoiling it.”
