THE ARTISTIC skills of a Year Six pupil from Trinity Primary School caught the eye of the local MP, and her design will now be printed and distributed on more than 4,000 of his Christmas cards.

Makayla Garcia won a competition to design Hereford and South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman’s greeting card which will be sent out across Herefordshire, and the UK.

Mr Norman said: “It’s always tough to choose a winner from the hundreds of entries, but Makayla’s design stood out for its simplicity and imaginative use of colour and shading.

“I would like to thank all the children that took part, as well as the teachers and staff at Trinity school for encouraging them and helping to run the competition.”

Featuring a wintry scene with Christmas trees, snowflakes and a snow man, the winning design won Makayla a set of artist’s pencil and a framed version for her home.

Around the county, the cards will now be delivered by hand, by the Scout Post.
