MORE than 2,500 properties were affected by a power cut in Hereford last night.

Power was cut off at around 6.50pm but Western Power Distribution engineers were able to restore power to most customers by around 8pm.

And around 65 properties in Mordiford were affected by a power cut this morning.

A lorry reversed into a stay wire - which helps to keep a pole upright - on Sufton Rise which caused a fuse to blow at the sub station.

Power was out for around 45 minutes and was back on by around 9am after a Western Power Distribution engineer restored the fuse.
